An AAAA record is an IP address within the recently launched IPv6 format and it comprises of 8 different sets of hexadecimal digits, unlike the IPv4 IPs, which include 4 groups of numbers in between 1 and 255. An illustration of an IPv6 address is 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and with this format the total number of IPs that may be created is many times larger than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Each and every domain name has its web hosting server Internet protocol address as a record and in essence, this unique record tells the domain where the Internet site for it can be found. Depending on the system which the service provider employs, the record will be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record allows you to host your website with one provider and your e-mails with a different one, so if you decide to use such a redirection to forward a domain address to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you'll have to create an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Web Hosting

If you want to set up a new AAAA record for any domain address or subdomain hosted within your web hosting account, it will not take you more than several simple steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is quite intuitive to use and is going to enable you to set up or edit any record easily. Once you log in and navigate to the DNS Records section, where you can find all existing records for your domain names and subdomains, you'll simply have to click the "New" button, choose AAAA from a small drop-down menu within the pop-up which will show up, enter or paste the required IPv6 address and save the modification - it is as basic as that. The new record will be 100% functioning within a maximum of 1 hour and the hostname that you have created it for shall start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. If required, you are also going to be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds the new record will be live after you eventually modify it to something different or you simply delete it.
